President's Welcome
Welcome back, curlers to the 2009-2010 season, and a special welcome to all new curlers.
What an exciting time this is. I can’t believe that midway through our season we will actually be moving into our brand new curling complex. This is something we can all be proud of and hopefully it will entice other curlers to Coquitlam.
Our new facility should also attract more participation in our Bonspiels so we will need your help to ensure these events are successful and run smoothly. I personally encourage all of you to think about volunteering.
My executive and I look forward to another great year. See you on the ice.

Your president,
Barry Ayers

September 4th, 2009 – Coquitlam Sports Centre Renewal Project
As our up-coming fall and winter season is approaching, we’d like to update you about the anticipated changes at the Sports Centre as we operate during the renovation and construction of this exciting capital project. Significant accomplishments have occurred since groundbreaking in November 2008:
  • new parking is available,
  • arena is undergoing significant renovation, and
  • new buildings construction is proceeding quickly.
Renovation and Construction Activity
The project remains on track with an anticipated completion date of December 2010. The arena and annex are available for use during their renovation while substantial work is scheduled from September - December 2009 including:
  • Seismic upgrades
  • Roof upgrades
  • Ceiling reinforcements
  • Electrical and lighting work
  • Heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning
  • Replacement of refrigeration lines
  • Re-placement of arena seating
  • Paint removal
  • Cement floor re-sealing
Programming Changes: January – April 2010
Although the renovation and new construction is timed to make every effort to keep two surfaces available, we anticipate a break in ice-skating lesson and public skate programming for January – April 2010. There may also be a break in food services for a period in the fall/winter season; however, our Minor Sports programs will continue through the winter. There will be special events, public skates and short duration lesson programs offered in the winter - please watch for these announcements.
